	<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://features.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/112710/112710_1145119854_small.jpg"><br><br>There's really nothing there, no robots, no spaceships, no aliens, there's just some dust, some light and some visible energy.  Between you and me, I was just playing around in Photoshop and got lucky.  I like the sense of depth, I like the contrast and the colours.  I thought about compositing some rocks in, but  its nice as it is.  I tried animating it, which was interesting.  I've been using Photoshop a long time and I'd like to get into matte painting.  For me personally, this seemed like a step in the right direction.  ]]>

Apparently thats not what its made for, but I'm confident I'll be able to find some work-arounds.  This is a still of water pouring.<br />

At this point I'd like to integrate physically accurate photons with mental ray, but apparently thats not going to be so easy either.  Until then I'm pretty happy with this kind of result.]]>

You can see him swim a little  here: http://www.youtube.com/musetavern.  I put the rig together as part of class at RISD.  The whole thing should be done May of 2008.  <br />

Anyhoo...I lit the room just like some of my other images here.  Some high ambient geometry around the bottom edges of the walls, wth three more pieces from above, and rendered with Final Gather.  Then I did a spherical render of the room, and used that for IBL and final gather on the fish.  It worked pretty well.  There's still some noise in the shadows of the animation, but those kinks should be worked out eventually.]]>
